Becoming a Woman
Undercurrents (Images #1-5)
In
a backyard pool, family and friends donned costumes and were photographed using a Nikon underwater camera.
Background
My daughter came home upset after being teased for playing with trucks
and "boy toys". Frustrated, she put on a pink gown, pulled nylons
over her head and jumped in our pool. I took out my new
underwater camera and the series was born.
From the Chicago Tribune
"The water babies and sea monsters of DeMarris' photos call to mind a
mythical world, but one that sets the stage for the roles and fantasies
donned in everyday, modern life."
